173rd Airborne Division Brigade – «Sky Soldiers»

The 173rd Airborne Brigade, known as the «Sky Soldiers», served in Vietnam from 1965 to 1971 and became one of the most prominent U.S. airborne formations of the war. By 1970, the brigade was operating mainly in II Corps, particularly in Bình Định Province and the Central Highlands, where it conducted infantry patrols, reconnaissance, security operations and offensive sweeps against Viet Cong and North Vietnamese forces. Although large-scale parachute assaults were rare by this stage of the war, the brigade retained its airborne identity and traditions throughout its deployment.
