The 416th Tactical Fighter Squadron deployed to Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War, flying the Republic F-105 Thunderchief. In 1967, the squadron operated from bases in Thailand as part of Operation Rolling Thunder, conducting strike missions against heavily defended targets in North Vietnam. Known for its distinctive knight emblem, the 416th earned a combat record marked by heavy action and significant losses during some of the most intense air campaigns of the war.
