7th Cavalry Regiment – «Garry Owen»

The 7th Cavalry Regiment, part of the 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile), was one of the most storied U.S. Army units to serve in Vietnam. Reorganized for airmobile warfare, its battalions relied heavily on helicopters to insert troops directly into combat zones, enabling rapid-response operations in some of the most contested regions of South Vietnam. Throughout the war, 7th Cavalry units conducted continuous search-and-destroy missions, air assaults, and reconnaissance-in-force operations across the Central Highlands and beyond. During this period, elements of the regiment took part in major divisional operations such as Operation Pershing (1967–1968), one of the longest and most significant campaigns of the war.
