South Vietnam Navy – Coastal Region 2

Vietnam Zippo factory engraved on the front with the insignia of the South Vietnamese Navy, Coastal Zone II, centered on a shield bearing an anchor crossed with rifles, symbolizing naval service and combat operations. The emblem is framed by scroll banners inscribed «CÓ VĂN MỸ» (With the Americans) above and «SÁT CỘNG» (Kill the Viet Cong) below. A lower scroll reads «HẢI QUÂN VÙNG 2 DUYÊN HẢI» (Navy Coastal Region 2).

Coastal Zone II was a major operational area of the Republic of Vietnam Navy (RVNN) during the Vietnam War, centered on Vũng Tàu and the maritime approaches to Saigon, responsible for coastal interdiction and naval security in southeastern South Vietnam. Units operating in this region conducted patrols, interdiction missions, and riverine and coastal security operations aimed at disrupting Viet Cong infiltration and supply routes. Working closely with United States Navy forces under the broader brown water and coastal warfare strategy, Coastal Zone II played a key role in maritime containment and counter-insurgency efforts.
