3/13 Marines – Charlie Battery
Charlie Battery, 3rd Battalion, 13th Marines (3/13), was a U.S. Marine Corps 105 mm artillery battery of the 13th Marine Regiment. Activated on 1 July 1966 as part of the Marine Corps' wartime expansion, the battalion deployed to Vietnam, where its batteries reinforced Marine operations throughout I Corps under the operational control of III Marine Amphibious Force (III MAF). During 1967–1968, its batteries provided vital artillery support to Marine infantry units operating in Quảng Trị Province, along the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), and at combat bases including Con Thien and Gio Linh. The 13th Marines as a regiment played an important role in Marine artillery operations in northern South Vietnam, including the defense of Khe Sanh during the 1968 siege.
