U.S. Navy Coastal Squadron Three – Checkmate

Vietnam Zippo factory engraved on the front with a ship and on the reverse with the insignia of U.S. Navy Coastal Squadron Three. The lid is hand engraved with «CAM RANH BAY» and the dates «68–69» below on one side, and «PETE» on the other, identifying the U.S. Navy serviceman to whom the lighter belonged.


During the late 1960s, U.S. Navy Coastal Squadron Three operated from Cam Ranh Bay as part of the U.S. Navy’s coastal warfare forces during the Vietnam War, conducting fast patrol craft operations, maritime interdiction, and coastal security missions along the Vietnamese coastline.
