D-Day Arm Flag – Invasion

Original U.S. invasion armband made of coated oilcloth with a printed American flag and multiple adjustment holes. Such armbands were issued to Allied troops during World War II to assist in the identification of friendly forces during combat operations, particularly during the D-Day invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944.

Armbands of this type were used by various U.S. units, including airborne forces such as the 101st Airborne Division, to reduce the risk of friendly fire during the chaotic early stages of the landings.
