Grouping from Sgt. Floyd D. Fletcher of Argos, Indiana, who served with the 82nd Airborne Division during World War II. He was an engineer with Company B, 307th Airborne Engineer Battalion and took part in the Normandy campaign, beginning with the airborne landings in the early hours of D-Day, June 6, 1944.
The group includes two original U.S. invasion armbands made of coated oilcloth with printed American flags and multiple adjustment holes, used to identify friendly forces during the Normandy invasion. Both armbands bear a small «CL» marking on the reverse, commonly interpreted as referring to «Chalk Lead» used for field marking.
Also included is a post-war mailing from Boots – The Airborne Quarterly, addressed to Fletcher, together with several original wartime documents.
