United States Merchant Marine – «Coca-Cola»

«U.S.M.M.» refers to the United States Merchant Marine, whose civilian mariners played a vital logistical role during WWII by transporting troops, fuel, ammunition, food, and military supplies across global wartime shipping routes. During the war, Coca-Cola closely followed Allied troop deployments and established overseas bottling operations in regions including North Africa, Italy, and France to supply American servicemen abroad. The engraved locations correspond with the expansion of these wartime Coca-Cola bottling and distribution networks during war.


Chrome plated WWII Zippo factory engraved with the «Carolina Coca-Cola Bottling Co.» logo on the front side, accompanied by multiple period hand engravings added by its wartime owner. The lighter features «DORR» engraved on the lid above the Coca-Cola logo together with the date «1942», while the top edge bears the hand engraved location «FRANCE», the front edge «ITALY», and the reverse edge «AFRICA». The reverse side is additionally engraved with the initials «U.S.M.M.» and the inscription «T.S. DORR», along with several other partially worn personal markings.
