U.S. 11th Port, Transportation Corps – Bruce W. Stenberg

The owner of this lighter, 2nd Lt. Bruce W. Stenberg (O-1895199), served with Headquarters, 11th Port, Transportation Corps, during the WWII. Following his landing in Normandy on June 10, 1944, he became part of the Allied transportation and port operations network responsible for the movement of troops, vehicles and supplies through the ports and logistical centers that supported the advance from France into Belgium and Germany.


Nickel plated Zippo engraved with campaign locations and dates including «GRAND CAMP LES BAINS», «GRANDVILLE», «UTAH BEACH», «CARENTAN», «ROUEN», «LE HAVRE», «LIEGE», «ANTWERP», «BRUXELLES» and «REIMS». The lid is engraved «BRUCE W. STENBERG” above «NORMANDY BEACH» and «JUNE 10 1944». The surfaces are framed by decorative border engraving.
