U.S. 15th Army Air Forces – Edward R. Ford
Major Edward R. Ford (O-22146) was a career U.S. Army officer and graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Class of 1939. Initially commissioned into the Infantry, he later transferred to the U.S. Army Air Forces and served as an Assistant Inspector General. During WWII he was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, Fifteenth Air Force, headquartered in Bari, Italy. Promoted to Major in 1944, Ford served with one of the principal strategic air commands operating in the Mediterranean Theater. The Fifteenth Air Force directed heavy bomber operations against targets throughout Germany, Austria, Hungary, Romania and the Balkans and played a major role in the Allied air campaign in Southern Europe.

Ford», his personal service number «O-22146» and the insignia of the U.S. Army Air Force on the front and his place of deployment «Italy-1944» on the back. Together with a portrait photo, his dog tag, his cigarette case and other personal items.
