U.S. Navy «U.S.S. Tomahawk» – engraved by Zippo

Commissioned in April 1944, the U.S.S. Tomahawk (AO-88) was an Escambia‑class fleet oiler responsible for refueling combat and support ships across the Pacific—a vital but hazardous mission. During her wartime service through 1946, she earned six battle stars for supporting operations from the Marianas to the Western Carolines and beyond. At Christmas 1944, Tomahawk remained anchored at Ulithi Atoll, a principal forward fleet anchorage from which she continued her fueling support into the new year
